About Ebiil Society
Ebiil Society, Inc. is a locally chartered non-governmental organization (NGO) that priorities the education of environmental protection and proper management of natural resources through indigenous knowledge. The organization derived its name through a group of community members in Ngarchelong State who came together to advocate for continuity of a permanent conservation of the Ebiil Channel, which has been document as an important aggregate site for groupers and other species of fish.
Ebiil Society operates an evironmental studies campus with training facilities and room & board for residential studies program. Current programs and activities of the organization include giant clam and sea cucumber restoration, dugong monitoring, fish weir restoration, women aquaculture, forest restoration, watershed protection and management, plant nursery, turtle/bekai monitoring, marine debris removal, and etc.
Ebiil operates successfully due to the combined efforts of leaders, staff, and community members. The organization has a Board of Directors with 7 members, an Executive Director, 9 staffing personnel, and multiple community trainers and volunteers aiding the various programs and actions on the ground.
