Our Work

Ebiil Society empowers communities in Palau and beyond through environmental stewardship, youth engagement, educational programming, and cultural resilience. Our programs promote sustainable practices, education, and community-led solutions that honor land and ocean for our future generations.

Education Program

Decolonizing Social Science Research

We introduce students to decolonized research methods grounded in Palauan values, local knowledge systems, and ethical, reciprocal inquiry.

Ebiil Camp

An immersive youth program that connects participants to land and ocean through hands-on learning, cultural practices, and environmental stewardship activities.

Outdoor Classroom

A hands-on learning experience where 4th graders explore marine science in the field and 5th graders help restore Ngardmau’s old bauxite mines by planting trees.

Too Good For Drugs

An educational prevention program that empowers youth with life skills, healthy decision-making tools, and cultural strengths to reduce substance abuse use and build resilience.

Marine Program

TRAP Project

We recover derelict gear within the areas of Ngarchelong, Ngiwal, Airai, and Ngatpang. Ebiil’s TRAP team target derelict mangrove crab. traps and abandoned giant clam farms.

Sea Cucumber Monitoring

Ebiil strengthens sea cucumber populations by improving hatchery practices, restoring traditional fishing grounds through community-led restocking, and promoting sustinable fishing knowledge and practices for long-term ecosystem health.

Women’s Fisheries

We support women fishers to build sustainable livelihoods by leading community-based clam and sea cucumber farming, sharing best practices, restoring reef ecosystems through reseeding and monitoring, and strengthening knowledge of responsible fisheries and marine stewardship across generations.

Forestry Program

Agroforestry

Our agroforestry activities strengthen food security, conservation, and environmental education by supporting community planting across Palau, restoring rare and endangered species, and using Oratelruul Forest as a living outdoor classroom for hands-on learning in agroforestry, biodiversity, and ecosystem stewardship.

Babeldaob Wildfire Prevention

Our Babeldaob wildfire efforts focus on building local capacity through education, training, and forest stewardship to reduce wildfire risk and support resilient ecosystems.

Native Forest Restoration

Our native forest restoration activities mobilize communities and partners to reforest degraded upland and island ecosystems with tens of thousands of native trees, reducing erosion, restoring coastal and limestone forests, and protecting critical habitat for endangered species through long-term monitoring, maintenance, and collaborative stewardship.

Plant Nursery

Through our nursery, we strengthen forest and watershed restoration by propagating tens of thousands of native trees (btaches, rebotel, kisaks, las, miich, and ukall) for reforestation, supporting ecological resilience, cultural uses, and long-term land stewardship while building local capacity in nursery and tree management.

Udeuuid Wilt Research

Our Udeuuid Wilt research focuses on understanding and responding to the decline of Palau’s endemic Ueuuido tree through community based monitoring, education, and restoration to protect its ecological and cultural future.
